Of its accelerated grimace,

The " age demanded " chiefly a mould in plaster,
Made with no loss of time,

Christ follows Dionysus,

L’età richiedeva un’istantanea
della sua smorfia epilettica
qualcosa per la scena contemporanea
no, certo non una grazia attica...
no, certo no... l’oscura fantasia
dello sguardo interiore ‒
meglio ego spacciato per poesia
che i classici in versione!
L’età richiedeva uno stampo in gesso
prodotto così, da sera a mattina,
un cinema in prosa, non alabastro
o la scultura della rima.

Vesti in sintetico di Nike & Co.
soppiantano la mussola di Coo,
la pianola fa un baffo
al barbito di Saffo.
A Dioniso segue Cristo
satiri e idromele
lasciano il posto a mortificazioni ‒
Calibano scaccia Ariele.
Tutto scorre, πάντα ῥεῖ
diceva il saggio Eraclito...
ma sarà una pacchianata da due schei
il nostro solo lascito.
Anche la bellezza cristiana
difetta, dopo Samotracia ‒
vediamo τὸ καλόν decretato
in base a indici di mercato.
Non per noi la carne del fauno
né del santo la visione.
Abbiamo i media per eucarestia
diritto di voto per circoncisione.
Tutti sono eguali, davanti alla legge.
Liberi da Pisistrato, possiamo eleggere
per governarci a capo dello Stato
tra un eunuco o un coperto e allineato.

Jedenfalls keine attische Anmut;

Nicht den Blick nach Innen;
Lieber gelogen
Als Klassiker übertragen!
»Die Zeit verlangte« vor allem einen Gipsabguß,
Verfertigt ohne Zeitverlust,
Ein Kinema der Prosa, nie, niemals Alabaster,
Noch den »Meißel« des Reims.

Das tee-rosa Teekleid, etc.,
Verdrängt den Musselin von Kos,
Das Groschenklavier »ersetzt«
Sapphos Barbitos.
Christos folgt auf Dionysos,
Phallisch und ambrosial,
Bricht der Kasteiung Bahn;
Caliban bannt Ariel.
Alle Dinge fließen,
Sagt der weise Heraklit;
Das Wohlfeile aber
Wird uns wohl überdauern.

Auf dem Markt verfügt.
